Scales Mound, IL celebrated its 150th birthday in 2003. 90% of town is on the National Register of Historic Places. It is located about 2 miles south of the Wisconsin border and 11 miles east of Galena on historic Stagecoach Trail.
Elizabeth, IL population 650 is nestled in the center of the scenic and rolling hills of Jo Daviess County. A historic community, home of an important battle in 1832 during The Blackhawk War. Visit the Apple River Fort Museum for more information after you're done shopping in our busy downtown district.
Apple River, IL is a small community located on Stagecoach Trail. Many amenities surround the village such as Apple Canyon Lake as well as Apple Canyon State Park.
Stockton, IL first recorded in 1890, is the youngest of the towns in the county and has a unique history of it's own. Considered "the Gateway to Jo Daviess County", it is located on US HWY 20 and also connects with US 78 to Carroll County. This town has a wonderful dining and shopping
district.
East Dubuque, IL is located alongside the Mississippi River and has a population of about 2000. A quaint village just 3 miles from Dubuque, IA and also near the Wisconsin border.
Warren, IL is another small village in the county that is rich in history. Warren boasts many fairs and festivals including the annual "Pumpkin Festival" and the Jo Daviess County Fair - the oldest fair in the state of Illinois.
